Kobe & Dendé, the Shiba Siblings

Meet Kobe & Dendé!

This digital painting was created as a gift for Kobe and Dendé, two young shiba pups owned by a mutual friend in Toronto! Collaborating with their mom Helen to create this piece was such a rewarding experience, and I’m so happy to have created this as a birthday gift for her boyfriend.

This piece is 11 x 14” in size, which they got printed and framed the very day it was finished. :) I get it, sometimes it’s too exciting to wait!

Joscelyn is an incredibly kind, patient and talented artist. She was great to work with, easy to communicate with, and provided updates every step of the way while she created the beautiful painting of Kobe and Dendé. I’m thoroughly impressed with her attention to detail and willingness to please her clients. I highly recommend anyone in need of digital artwork to seek her out. Thank you for sharing your talents with us, Joscelyn! We love our digital painting!

Here is the original sketch or “line art” where the image started.

This was an update sent to Helen to make sure I painted the base colour of their undercoats properly, before adding the furry details.

Here’s a side-by-side comparison of the difference that last detail pass makes! Dende’s fur has been polished and clearly defined on the right side, while Kobe’s fur is still untouched.

This is the original reference photo that I worked from. Thankfully this image was quite high quality, so it was easy to see all the details!

Kobe (left) and Dende (right) pose side by side like the natural pro models that they are!
